Department Description

The department was opened starting from the academic year 1971/1972 according to Legislative Decree No. 12 dated 2/5/1971

First: The vision of the Food Science Department program:

 The program provides an effective contribution to providing scientific and practical experience and the ability to solve problems related to food processing and preservation through what it provides of modern knowledge and techniques. The program also develops correct scientific thinking and research skills to serve the reality of food manufacturing in the country and create opportunities for sustainable development.

Second: The Message of the Food Science Department Program:

 The program in food sciences at the Faculty of Agriculture at Tishreen University seeks to prepare and rehabilitate specialized scientific cadres with the aim of providing universities, research centers, state ministries and other bodies related to the program’s specialization, with researchers who can address solving problems related to food and food processing that the country suffers from, with a scientific methodology, in a manner that is consistent with the program’s specialization. With standards approved by the Ministry of Higher Education in the Syrian Arab Republic.

Third: Objectives of the Food Science Department Program:

The program in food sciences at the Faculty of Agriculture at Tishreen University aims to:

1. Building capacities and specialized practical experiences, developing students’ skills in the field of food manufacturing, and using modern technology in this field to serve the labor market.

2. Preserving the natural resources for food and optimizing them in line with the principle of sustainable development.

3. The department grants a bachelor's, master's and doctoral degree in food sciences
