Department of Prosthodontic Histology

 The Department of Periodontology is one of the old departments of the college, which opened since the inauguration of the College of Dentistry in 1983. The teaching staff of department includes a number of faculty members, who are:

Dr. Tuhama Youssef holds a Ph.D. in dental implants and its relationship with periodontal diseases, obtained in 2009- from Damascus University

- A number of teaching assistants have been dispatched to obtain the academic qualification required for appointment as a faculty member in the department, and some of them are still in the process of being dispatched.

- Several researches have been and are being conducted in the department in cooperation with other departments as part of an approved research plan centered on modern diagnostic methods and the distribution and spread of periodontal diseases in the Syrian coast.

The department teaches three courses for the third, fourth and fifth years, as follows:

For the third year: course name: Fundamentals of periodontal diseases (practical - theoretical).

For the fourth year: Clinical diseases of the tissues around the teeth (practical - theoretical)

For the fifth year: treatments for periodontal tissue diseases (practical - theoretical).

With a total number of hours (five theoretical hours per week) distributed over three years.

And (10 practical hours) distributed over three years.

- The members of the department contribute to all the activities of the college and the university and to communicate with all colleges of dentistry in the country.

For the first time in Syria, a specialized scientific symposium on periodontal disease was organized with the participation of periodontists all over the country.

The department has clinics that include /10/ dental devices (dental chairs), and students also share with oral diseases clinics, which include / 10/ other dental devices.
