Tishreen University is preparing specialized engineering committees for immediate detection and response to the earthquake's repercussions on buildings

Within the efforts of the immediate response to the results of the earthquake, which caused the collapse and cracking of a large number of buildings in Lattakia..


Today, a meeting of the Deanship and specialists from the Faculty of Civil Engineering and some cadres of the Faculty of Science was held at Tishreen University, specializing in geology, to discuss and develop a strategy and action plan in order to study the consequences of the earthquake on buildings and infrastructure, and to form teams to assess and treat cracked buildings

The committee included faculty members, graduate students, and undergraduate students, through which construction cases are described and necessary reports are submitted


The President of the University, Dr. Bassam Hassan, indicated that the task of the committees is to discover the buildings in Lattakia Governorate in coordination with the governorate, the Lattakia and Jabalah City Councils, and all the responsible administrative authorities.

Stressing that the committees will complete their work and submit their reports to the concerned authorities as quickly as possible after coordinating the work and integrating it with the stakeholders in the governorate, the Ministry of Local Administration and the Engineers Syndicate, so that the committees formed in the university contribute to assessing the status of buildings and providing technical advice.

During the meeting, the importance of identifying and evaluating the risks resulting from the earthquake, vocational rehabilitation of construction workers, and securing the necessary environment to deal with the engineering stages with the required quality was emphasized.


They also discussed the development of immediate plans that deal with the current situation of earthquakes and future ones. Studies and recommendations are presented within an advisory, educational, and research activity.
