During the visit of The Beatitude
Patriarch John X Yazigi, Patriarch of Antioch and All the East for the Greek
Orthodox, and his accompanying delegation to the Faculty of Civil Engineering where he studied ,and in the presence of Dr. Bassam Ibrahim,
Minister of Higher Education, Dr. Bassam Hassan, President of Tishreen
University, and Dr. Mirna Dalaleh, Secretary of the Arab Socialist Baath Party
branch at Tishreen University, the Dean of the College of Engineering welcomed His Beatitude with Professor Dr. Bassam Sultan, the
administrative and scientific deputies, the heads of departments, in addition
to the professors and students of the college. The Dean of the College welcomed
His Excellency with a short speech in which he asserted that it was a blessed
day We met and stood in pride and honor
welcoming the historic visit of a distinguished spiritual and scientific figure
to our college, the College of Civil Engineering, which was once a haven for
him as a diligent, hard-working and persevering student. The College of
Engineering was part of His Beatitude’s great spiritual journey and is proud
today to be a station in his noble journey. He concluded his speech by blessing
this historic day.
His Beatitude also expressed his happiness
to visit his college and meet its staff and students. He presented a souvenir
book, “From the East, Light,” and emphasized the antiquity and civilization of
Syria and its bright history as an example of coexistence and love.
