Quality Assurance Center
(QAC) at Tishreen University seeks improving the quality of inputs, processes
and outputs through an integrated system. This system basically depends on evaluation,
supervision, follow-up and support for all institutional and academic
components and practices in accordance with the university’s vision, mission
and goals. Moreover, QAC seeks fulfilling the requirements of approved
standards in cooperation and mutual interaction with peer local and external
units, centers and bodies. The main goal of these is to work on acquiring the trust
of society in the university's role, outputs and development capabilities in
Syrian Arab Republic.
To achieve its goals, QAC
performs the following tasks:
1- Setting up the general
policies that achieve the QAC's goals.
2- Setting up the quality
assurance strategy at the university, updating and developing it periodically,
and supervising its implementation.
3- Setting up mechanisms for
evaluating the university administrations and following up their implementation
and development.
4- Working on implementing the
national plans and programs related to developing the quality of higher
education.
5- Participating in preparing
the strategic plan of the university.
6- Developing and building
human capabilities at the university to achieve the quality assurance system
and its continuous development.
7- Following up the work of Quality
Assurance Units at faculties and higher institutes, and determining the extent
of their effectiveness in implementing quality assurance mechanisms within the faculty/institute
through analyzing and evaluating the periodic reports of these units.
8- Providing the necessary
support for faculties and higher institutes and preparing them to apply for
institutional or academic accreditation for their programs whether internally
or externally.
9- Establishing communication
channels with the relevant units, centers and bodies that work in the field of
quality assurance and accreditation at higher education.
10- Proposing incentives and
rewards for distinguished activities at the work of QAC and Quality Assurance Units.
11- Considering the rules
governing the quality, excellence and creativity awards at the university.
12- Creating integrated
databases for all quality fields at the university.
13- Doing studies and
providing research in the field of quality and accreditation at higher
education, and publishing them in specialized periodicals and publications.
The scientific and
educational activities carried out by QAC at Tishreen University during the
year 2020:
1- The institutional
self-evaluation project, which included:
-Adopting standards for institutional
self-evaluation at Tishreen University.
- Forming work teams at faculties
and higher institutes.
- Forming a review-audit team
for the work of the teams.
- Holding an introductory
workshop on institutional self-evaluation at the university.
- Following up the work of
the institutional self-evaluation teams, reviewing the results of the
evaluation and carrying out a draft for it.
2- Participating in qualifying
the new assigned engineers at Tishreen
University by participating in the training program entitled “Quality
Management”.
3- Participating in auditing
the accreditation of refereed academic journals by the Academic Accreditation
Committee at Ministry of Higher Education.
4- Participating in
developing the performance of quality assurance centers by the Quality
Assurance Committee at Higher Education Council.
5- Participating in implementing
quality and accreditation systems by the Accreditation Committee at Higher
Education Council.
6- The internal audit program
for faculties and higher institutes at the university for the academic year
2019/2020:
- The internal audit teams at
the university, under the supervision of QAC, performed the audits on the
faculties that had not been audited in the previous academic year, which
included:
- Faculty of Agriculture
- Faculty of Law
- Faculty of Pharmacy
- Higher
Institute of Marine Research
- Faculty of Civil Engineering
At the end of each audit, the
audit reports were duly submitted to the deanships of faculties and higher
institutes at the university, attached by corrective actions to be avoided
within three months from the date of issuance of each report.
